    • It is sad that a view like on the wallcover, with birds in abundance, will soon be a vision of the past. Most of the animals that we have come to share the world with are all but extinct. The seas will soon be truely be fishless, and the land we'll share with small rodents. The yellow colours on this wallcover make it look like it's one of them old images hanging in schools' classrooms. Those that were made in simpler times, times where learning all the animals around a pond seemed very decent natural education. With our new Wallcover: The past D A I S Y  J A M E S tries to capture beauty of nature in general, but with a hint of nostalgia, and the fears that in a century, old, worn, discolored images are all we have left of what once was.

    • In a paradise there's food aplenty. So much, in fact, that the dad-birds of some species don't have to help with feeding their offspring. This gives them a lot of spare time to come up with the most bizarre, (to us) attractive (to birds) and remarkable (to us) mating rituals, songs and choreographies. These are ever evolving, cause the competition isn't sitting still. They only live in paradise though, (for them being Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, and Northeastern Australia) so if you want to enjoy them you have to fly there (Sooner rather than later as deforestation is endangering most of the species) Or just decorate your wall with this D A I S Y  J A M E S wallcover featuring birds of paradise in all their splendor.

One could even say that while failing to make a perfect copy, they made something truely their own. • In Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist cosmology there exists a sacred five-peaked mountain, that is considered to be the center of all the physical and spiritual universes. It is called Mount Meru, and on it grow trees known as ‘Jambu’ (Jumboo) that are said to bear trees as big as elephants. It was this tree a London zookeeper thought of when he gave an African bush elephant his name. This elephant would become famous for giving rides to visitors, and when the zoo wanted to sell it, 100.000 schoolchildren wrote to queen Victoria beging her to put a stop to it. Elephants have always fascinated us. They are big, mostly gentle, and come from far away (the hearts of india or the bushes of sub sahara africa). They seem almost mythical and magical, and seemed the perfect fit for this mystical D A I S Y J A M E S wallcover.

    • Wajang is a form of puppet theatre art found in Indonesia and other parts of Southeast Asia, wherein a dramatic story is told through shadows thrown by puppets and sometimes combined with human characters. It is really an amazing form of artistic expression. The term derives from the word bayang, which means ‘shadow’ and also ‘imagination’. Traditionally a show lasted from midnight until dawn. D A I S Y  J A M E S managed to capture the mysterious feeling of this game of shadows. You can see the tropics, you can almost feel them, maybe you even hear the birds, but it’s clear not all of them is there. Shadows let you use your imagination in new and exciting ways, and be honest; It looks so tight!

    • The Aviary
    • Birds have fascinated us since time immemorial. The fact that they can fly, a feat that we have only managed to achieve a short century ago (and even then just with the help of machine), has always be the source of great envy. Birds are very symbolic too. The romans could foretell the future just by looking at the kinds of birds that flew above them. The owl stands for wisdom, the dove for peace, while the peacock is a universal symbol for fertility. People have come to keep birds as well, and while some birds can be trained not to fly away, like falcons, most must have their wings cut like poultry, or be locked up in a cage. As many people can see the irony in admiring these birds for their sense of freedom, and then locking them away, D A I S Y  J A M E S now offers the best of two worlds. With ‘Wallcover: The Aviary’ you can enjoy these marvelous creatures, without harming any of them.

The Florentine Leonardo da Vinci, and the Dutch Johannes Vermeer, acquired a lot of fame over them. Maybe you can also spot Cecilia Gallerani, or Artemisia Gentileschi the first female painting artist.
