    • The Berlin Blue
    • Berlin blue (also known as Prussian blue) was the first modern synthetic pigment. It has a beautiful dark blue colour, and is the traditional blue in blueprints. Apart from adding colour to the world, when orally administered, Prussian blue is used as an antidote for certain kinds of heavy metal poisoning. As such, it is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, the most important medications needed in a basic health system. We at D A I S Y J A M E S love it for its deep blue colour and how it can make your wall something special.

It has remarkable resistance to corrosion, even at high temperatures, and is therefore considered a noble metal where silver isn't. It's a very 'cool' metal though, used in a lot of high tech engineering applications. And it's this coolness we tried to grasp in this latest D A I S Y  J A M E S wallcover: The Platinum. Hard lines and the silverest grey we could find.

This  last explenation seems pretty unlikely to us, as their habitat is neither black nor white.

This gives them a lot of spare time to come up with the most bizarre, (to us) attractive (to birds) and remarkable (to us) mating rituals, songs and choreographies. These are ever evolving, cause the competition isn't sitting still. It was this tree a London zookeeper thought of when he gave an African bush elephant his name. This elephant would become famous for giving rides to visitors, and when the zoo wanted to sell it, 100.000 schoolchildren wrote to queen Victoria beging her to put a stop to it. Elephants have always fascinated us. They are big, mostly gentle, and come from far away (the hearts of india or the bushes of sub sahara africa). What at first sight appears a simple pattern, quickly has to admit to being more than it seems, and it is remarkable how easy it is to see different things in its rainbow-colored shapes. It can resemble a tall building with windows galore, a piece of film with characteristic squares on either side, or even a road network for a futuristic mega city!  Whoever lays their eyes on it is sure to surprise you with an interpretation of their own, which is what pretty things are all about.

    • Birds have fascinated us since time immemorial. The fact that they can fly, a feat that we have only managed to achieve a short century ago (and even then just with the help of machine), has always be the source of great envy. Birds are very symbolic too. The romans could foretell the future just by looking at the kinds of birds that flew above them. The owl stands for wisdom, the dove for peace, while the peacock is a universal symbol for fertility. People have come to keep birds as well, and while some birds can be trained not to fly away, like falcons, most must have their wings cut like poultry, or be locked up in a cage. As many people can see the irony in admiring these birds for their sense of freedom, and then locking them away, D A I S Y  J A M E S now offers the best of two worlds. With ‘Wallcover: The Aviary’ you can enjoy these marvelous creatures, without harming any of them.

One could even say that while failing to make a perfect copy, they made something truely their own. Just don't forget it all started around 2000 BC. when Chinese potters set out on a quest to have all their pots, vases and tableware, look as pretty as they could.
