The Wajang

Wajang is a form of puppet theatre art found in Indonesia and other parts of Southeast Asia, wherein a dramatic story is told through shadows thrown by puppets and sometimes combined with human characters. It is really an amazing form of artistic expression. The term derives from the word bayang, which means ‘shadow’ and also ‘imagination’. Traditionally a show lasted from midnight until dawn.
